Hunting and Gathering Societies

They are simple societies that lived around 12.000 years ago B.C. People here live by hunting animals and gathering food. They developed the use of simple tools to hunt animals and gather vegetation for food.

Currently there are information from a surviving societies that fits with hunter and gather conditions, they are, the Aka and Pygmies of Central Africa, the Bushmen of southwestern Africa, the Aborigines of Australia, the Kaska Indians of northwest Canada, and the Batek and Semai of Malaysia.

This groups spend their lives looking for game and collecting plants to eat. They only have free time in lush areas. They are nomads, and are always moving toward the regions where the food could be found.

This societies depend from family, to distribute the food, to protect the members and teach the children. Adults hunts animals and women gather vegetation.

This societies have the belief to have a shaman or spiritual leader.

The weapons commonly more used are the spear, bow, arrow, and stone knife.

A lot of hunting and gathering societies had disappear, but still remains some groups of them around the world.
